A Great Big World is a relatively new band who actually got their start while they were studying at my school, New York University. The two rose to fame as a result of one of their songs, 'This Is the New Year' being featured in an episode of
Glee. Most recently, they collaborated with the one and only Christina Aguilera for the emotional ballad 'Say Something'. On it's own, the song has an understated beauty and simplicity about it, and Christina's surprisingly held back vocal does wonders for the track. The video takes it to another level emotionally. There's a young couple and an older couple who part ways, and although almost no action takes place it's more moving than you could possibly imagine. The old man lying with his wife as she's dying left me in a pool of tears and I had shivers running all through my body. This is a rare gem in the music scene right now, and it deserves all the success it can get.
